Kicking Off 2025: A Mesmerizing Ravel Performance
Step into the vibrant sound world of Maurice Ravel’s Sonata No. 2, brought to life in this electrifying performance with the phenomenal violinist Annie Chen. This marks the first concert of my musical journey in 2025, and I can’t wait to see where the music takes us this year!
Enjoy this recent performance of one of the most iconic piano preludes by Sergei Rachmaninov.
Rachmaninov composed most of his piano works while living in Russia. After emigrating following the Bolshevik Revolution, he struggled to find the inspiration he once had in his homeland. His incredibly demanding concert career left little time for composing, and he deeply missed the environment that had fueled his creativity.
Growing up in Ukraine, I was surrounded by Rachmaninov’s music. His deep sense of nostalgia and longing for his native culture and people resonates with me on a very personal level.
